What We Do

AV Automation specializes in reliable, simple to operate, high performance electronic systems for your home, designed and installed to the highest standards of quality and service. Keenly aware of design and architecture, the goal is maximizing comfort, simplicity, and entertainment.

AV Automation’s focus on getting to know you, and your lifestyle, ensures we can deliver an Audio/Video “experience” centered on your personal tastes and priorities.  An automated environment for your home or business that provides the functionality you need, while delivering a truly enjoyable experience.

Why Use AV Automation:

We know that AV and home automation systems are “lifestyle” items that should be simple and reliable to operate every time.  Today’s constantly changing technologies make it harder and harder to operate even a basic home theater in a box system.  Let AV Automation design a system specifically tailored for you and your family.  Our AV system design and installation experts can make sure that you get all of the functions you want in an easy to understand and operate system.

We offer an unrivaled assortment of the world’s most respected brands of audio, video, and automation components.  Our brands of equipment have been carefully selected not only for their incredible performance, but also for their unmatched value.  We proudly offer products from Savant, Paradigm, McIntosh, Sonus Faber, Triad, Sim2, Panamorph, Screen Innovations, Totem Acoustic, Quest AcousticsLutron, and many many more.

Set the Mood

Whether it’s an intimate dinner party with a few guests, a large New Year’s Eve bash, or just a movie night with the family, the perfect environment makes all the difference in the world. Proper lighting, temperature, music, and video all dramatically impact the mood of your event. Instead of running all over ‘setting the scene’ in each room, we can give you a single ‘Entertain’ function that sets up the whole house. At the end of the party, turn it ALL off with a single ‘All Off’ button on your iPhone, iPad, in-wall keypad, or Savant remote.

Distributed Audio & Video

Entertain your friends and family with ease, all while keeping the equipment out-of-sight and out-of-mind. Imagine the big game on all TVs for the adults, ‘Kids Bop’ music by the pool for the kids, and central control of it all in the palm of your hand. Say goodbye to confusing AV systems with a Savant “Smart” system thoughtfully configured by AV Automation to provide simple, reliable, and straightforward use of your favorite audio and video sources (iTunes, Pandora, Sirius XM, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, and many more).

Home Theater

From 5.1 surround sound in a multi-purpose room to a Reference Level 9.2 THX Certified screening room… let our certified staff design a room and system custom-tailored to your every desire. With decades of experience ranging from room acoustic analysis and calibration to theatrical product development (our founder created the famed ‘Black Diamond projection screen by Screen Innovations), there is no team in Central Texas with more home cinema expertise. From seating and decor to hidden acoustic treatments, we can work hand in hand with your architect and interior designer to provide the room of your dreams.

Less Can Truly be More

Keenly aware of design and architecture, the goal is maximizing comfort, simplicity, and entertainment while aesthetically blending into your home’s decor. We love reducing visibility of the multitude of electronic devices in your home to allow the architecture, furnishings, and art to take center stage. Let us help you hide light switches, thermostats, speakers, TVs, and more. We specialize in a wide variety of products designed to disappear when not in use, and spring to life upon demand. We also believe that fewer buttons are almost always better. Complexity results in clutter and frustration, which we work diligently to eliminate.

Planning Ahead

A little planning goes a long way whether you are a die hard audiophile wanting a 20 seat custom home cinema, or just want background music that does not distract from your traditional Tuscan interior. We proudly coordinate with your architect, builder, and interior designer to ensure that your finished home is everything you’ve been dreaming of. From space planning for optimal system performance, room flow, and functionality to project management that keeps things on track and on budget, our goals are to be thorough in planning and precise in execution.

Products and Methods

Striking the perfect balance between performance and appearance requires the right mix of products and expertise. Our system design and installation staff can help you achieve that balance with the proper selection and implementation of products like: TVs hidden behind mirrors or motorized artwork: custom sized and finished speakers designed to blend perfectly into their surroundings: lifts to conceal projectors, screens, TVs, and speakers: even completely invisible flat speakers that are installed perfectly flush with the sheetrock, textured, and painted right over!

Your Home: One System

Imagine pressing one ‘Goodnight’ button when you go to bed and the lights fade to off, shades close, every TV and speaker shuts down, the temperature is set, and the security system is armed. A well-integrated home control system allows you to live life more simply and efficiently. Intelligent communication from one system to the next helps your home feel like one harmonious environment working in unison instead of a mixture of separate and uncoordinated devices.

Living Green: Energy & Cost Management

Whether you are looking to save money or Mother Earth, managing your energy use and production is not just a trendy choice, it’s a wise one. It all begins with monitoring energy in a simple-to-understand way. Once you have this information, what do you do with it? In addition to modifying behaviours that waste energy, we recommend several of the ‘Smart Home’ functions listed below. These help you save energy automatically without adding tasks to your already busy life.

Simplicity and Reliability are Vital

Regardless of how many features your system has, our top two goals are always ease-of-use and absolute reliability. Utilizing Savant’s True Image technology, you can use a photo of each room to control it. Touch the light and it turns on. Touch the TV or thermostat and you’re in control of that function. Nothing could be easier. When it comes to reliability we select our brands of equipment carefully and offer rigorous safeguards like safe-healing networks and remote service access, providing years of use with virtually no upkeep hassles.

What is a ‘Smart Home’?

The term “smart home”refers to much more than unified control or an app for your thermostats. A truly smart home constantly monitors different variables, and then responds in ways you have decided are helpful to you and your family. Some examples are listed here, but the possibilities are endless:

  • Lighting that turns on automatically when you enter a room or off when the room becomes vacant

  • Westward facing shade that close 5 hours before sunset to reduce heat gain and air conditioning costs, and then re-open 15 minutes before sunset to let you capture the moment

  • Thermostats that switch from heat to cool and adjust the temp based on the actual temperature outside your home, keeping you comfortable while saving you money

  • Shades that close automatically when you turn on the TV to reduce glare

  • Temporarily muting whole-house music when the doorbell rings or you page the family to dinner

  • Automatic “electronic curfews” for the kids room

  • Dimming all the lights by 10% and adjusting the thermostats by 2 degrees if your energy consumption gets too high

  • Emailing your alternative energy service provider to come clean your solar panels or service your system if energy production falls below normal

Intelligent Control Technology

Savant’s Automation App, TrueControl™— transforms the iPad®, iPod touch® and iPhone® into the ultimate remote for your Smart System, providing a truly comfortable and leading-edge experience for a complete two-way control for your audio and video, lighting, security, climate and any other subsystems or technology. As the only Apple®-based automation and entertainment platform, Savant’s TrueControl solution takes full advantage of an environment where you have one Apple device communicating to another, providing users with the fastest response time of any competing app.

Savant’s intelligent control technology enables the homeowner to monitor and reduce energy consumption of smart home electronics, conserve resources, and save money— all without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Savant’s Smart Energy harnesses green technology and tailors your system to adjust usage based upon time of day, changing seasons, outside temperature, and any other triggering mechanisms to ensure that your smart home system’s energy usage is always at peak efficiency while quality of life and convenience are never compromised.

From $2,000 to $200,000, there’s no limit to what you can automate in your office, home, or condo with Savant.

Meat Loaf recommends AV Automation!

Not to toot our own horn (okay, maybe a little horn tooting), but we are so proud of the work we have done for Meat Loaf on his Austin home. We were extremely excited when he contacted us and it is a wonderful feeling to know that Meat Loaf thought our work rocked – even if we can’t sing a 3 part harmony!

“If you’re looking for someone to handle your audiovisual needs in Austin, pick up your phone and call Aaron Reilly at AV Automation. If having someone who stands 100% behind their work is important to you, then Aaron and his team are definitely the right people for you. Just don’t ask them to sing a 3-part harmony!”

We Love Our Customers, And They Love Us.

We are fully dedicated to our customers. When you choose AV Automation, you are getting a reliable, capable, and respected team that truly enjoys creating your dream spaces. With over 35 years of combined experience and counting, we look forward to the opportunity to serve your needs.

We were very impressed with the AV Automation team right from the start. We had several companies bidding on this project, and most were in the same ballpark. What set AV Automation apart was the fact that they spent considerable time listening to us talk about what we wanted in an AV system – then designed the quote around our needs. The work commenced on time, and the communication was great. When issues came up, they were handled professionally, and quickly. The project came in on time, and on budget. The Savant home automation and Lutron lighting control systems are very intuitive to operate – we had 10 guests at Christmas, and all were using the system with no instruction needed! Finally, the AV Automation team treated our house like it was theirs. From wiring to installation to cleanup – every aspect of the job was completed with a distinctive care. We highly recommend AV Automation and would certainly use them again for our next big project!

The guys were good and pleasant to work with…

Working with Aaron and the crew from AV Automation was a pleasure. The proposal was accurate, and installation began when scheduled then completed in a timely manner. Everyone was extremely respectful, and we appreciated the care shown to our home while the project was being completed.
Marlene & Gary Cotshott
Thank you once again for transforming the media experience at our home. Both systems now project the full audio and visual potential that we purchased and have exceeded all our expectations. The audio and video calibration that you personally performed have allowed the Plasma Screens to jump out realistically into the room and the sound to surround the listener as if chosen by the speakers.
Dr. Steven Zinn
It was a pleasure working with Thomas and we appreciated very much the effort and amount of time he spent to make everything right.
Danny Floyd • Bertram, TX.
Thomas is awesome!! Thank you!!!

Awesome quality! From start to finish, they were on top of it. I am very glad we chose AV Automation to design and install our home theater. I will be recommending them to my friends and associates.
Dawn A. • Round Rock, TX
We received a referral to AV Automation and decided to give them a call. They got us the estimate that same day. Once we approved the bid, the installation was scheduled and completed in a timely manner. The AV Automation staff was a pleasure to work with. There were even some minor challenges with our cabinet which were resolved quickly and professionally. I would be happy to recommend them to any of my friends or associates.
Robert G. • Westlake, TX
Aaron and Daryl and the rest of the team are the BEST!! My wife and I were finalizing a year long remodel process on our home and forgot to spend sufficient time on our AV needs. We contacted AV Automation and told them we wanted the best we could get; however, we did not want to tear up the walls in the house. They can up with a fantastic WiFi automation process that handles our entire house…speakers, shades, TV’s all are WiFi. We had this work done over a year ago and all works great. If we do have an occasional problem/question, etc., AV Automation is always available to remotely get into our system and fix the problem and/or guide us with the answer. There are many AV companies available and we have had many friends who have had horror stories with he process. AV Automation does what they say they will do and their customer service is second to none…congrats Aaron and keep up the great work!!
Everett C. • Austin, Tx
These guys were great! They walked me through the project before they started and completed on time with no overages. Pricing was great for the services rendered. My salesman Kade was knowledgeable, patient and very attentive. Their product choices and system design are second to none in the area. They walked my wife through the systems and took the time to actually make sure she understood how to operate it. No more remote parking lot on our coffee table and no more “honey see whats on tv”. Thank you all !!!!!
C Bernard • San Antonio
If you need a complex AV system that is simple to use call Aaron Reilly with AV Automation.Aaron installed the system at my house and now is putting a system in at the brewery. He is a good listener and gives you what you need based on what you want. He does not try to over sell you stuff that you don’t need, as a matter of fact he simplified my home system. He maintained what I wanted it to do with less equipment and saved me money in the process. I would recommend Aaron and AV Automation to anyone seriously thinking about installing a residential or commercial AV system.

To Whom It May Concern,

This letter is written to express our complete satisfaction with the services provided by AV Automation for the design and installation of a comprehensive home automation and audio/video system. These services were provided for a high profile client’s fully custom residential project that we managed.

The services of AV Automation were always provided in a timely and professional manner for a reasonable price. Regularly changing deliverables were all managed from concept to completion. Their excellent communication and responsiveness contributed to the successful completion of our project with the given deadlines.

Aaron and his crew were open to accepting new challenges and working with other trades to assist with their scope of work as needed. This flexibility was particularly critical on this project where their automation system coordinates the home’s lighting, HVAC, A/V, pool, water features, window automation, and energy management systems.

Aaron and his team provided an array of alternatives from which to choose throughout the development and implementation process, and demonstrated a flexibility to balance their focus between performance, functionality, and aesthetics.

I received numerous compliments from the client, architect, and designer for the finished product that they delivered.

We look forward to using AV Automation for our future residential and commercial projects.
